What is Eccentric Reducers?

Eccentric reducer is a type of butt welded pipe fitting used to connect two pipes of different diameters. Its characteristic is that the centerlines of the two ends of the pipe are parallel to each other but offset. This design allows one side of the pipeline (usually the bottom or top) to remain horizontal.

Using a flat top eccentric reducer on the inlet horizontal pipeline of the pump can effectively prevent cavitation; In horizontal drainage pipelines, using eccentric reducers with flat bottoms can ensure that the medium is emptied without residue.

Advantages of Duplex WP2205

WP2205 duplex steel is an ideal material for manufacturing thick walled high-pressure pipe fittings due to its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Its yield strength is more than twice that of 316L austenitic stainless steel, and it can safely withstand extreme pressure in Sch160 grade pipeline systems.

At the same time, it has strong resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, especially stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride containing environments, ensuring the long-term reliability of pipe fittings in corrosive environments such as marine and chemical industries.

SMLSCO Fitting Manufacturing Process

SMLSCO seamless eccentric reducers are manufactured from certified high-quality duplex steel seamless pipes. Firstly, the pipe blank is cut to a predetermined length, and then one end of the pipe blank is gradually compressed to the desired small end diameter in a dedicated mold through hot pushing or cold compression process, forming an eccentric structure.

After forming, the product must undergo solid solution annealing heat treatment to optimize the metallographic structure and properties. Finally, after surface pickling and two end groove machining, it is prepared for on-site butt welding.

WP2205 Reducer Application

The Sch160 grade WP2205 eccentric reducer is a special pipe fitting designed specifically for ultra-high pressure and strong corrosion conditions. It is mainly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and seawater desalination.

Typical applications include: diameter transformation of main and branch lines in high-pressure process flow, suction and discharge pipelines of pumps, and other harsh situations where one side of the pipeline needs to be kept straight to meet specific process requirements (such as preventing air pockets and ensuring proper drainage).
